World Baseball Funding Still In Negotiations

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The future funding for a World Baseball Academy complex may be without city Fort Wayne Legacy dollars.

Late last year, the Legacy Review Committee gave a positive vote to turn over $800,000 from Legacy money, but 21Alive reports there could be city council members that have shifted their interested in other directions.

Managers with the Academy say they're still committed to building three youth-sized fields with artificial turf infields, along with other upgrades. They say it could be a draw for teams around the Midwest, and tournaments could produce millions of dollars for the city.

However, it's five months after the proposal passed the committee, but negotiations still haven't generated a deal.
