Zanesville Sued After Refusing to Build Cell Tower

ZANESVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): The town of Zanesville was sued after the Town Council refused to allow Skyway Towers LLC to build a cell phone tower near a local park.

According to the Journal Gazette, Skyway Towers sued the town on Monday and asked a federal judge to overturn the recent vote of the town's three-member board.

The vote on March 19th prevented the company from putting a tower in a small area near the Lions Club park in Zanesville.

The lawsuit claims the construction of the tower would fulfill the federal Communications Act. Even though the population of Zanesville only has about 600 people, the Federal Communications Act states that nothing can prohibit wireless services.

Skyway was asked to develop wireless services in the area by Verizon Wireless.
