INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana could be the latest location in an ongoing national debate over drug-induced abortions.

The conflict between anti-abortion activists and abortion rights supporters in Indiana revolves around the legal definition of an abortion clinic. Indiana law says state restrictions only apply to clinics that perform surgical abortions.

The abortion-rights advocate Guttmacher Institute says Indiana is one of four states where the restrictions on abortion clinics are clearly limited to surgical abortion. In five other states, the law isn’t clear.

The fight over language is part of a larger war to restrict the use of Mifeprex, the so-called abortion pill, which was approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration 11 years ago Friday.
