Indianapolis Officer Wounded in Overnight Shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): An Indianapolis police officer has been shot in the leg and another man wounded in what police say was an exchange of gunfire just days after a city officer was killed.

The shooting happened about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after officers were called to an apartment complex on the city's east side with two men shooting at each other. Police say Officer Gregory Stevens found one man in a courtyard with a gun and they both fired shots.

Stevens was released from a hospital several hours later and is expected to make a full recovery. Police say the wounded 22-year-old man was hospitalized in fair condition and faces preliminary charges of attempted murder.

Officer Rod Bradway was fatally shot early Friday by a gunman who was also killed.
