UPDATE: Falling Tree Kills 22-Year-Old Man at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say blunt-force trauma to the chest killed a 22-year-old worker who was struck by a falling tree while clearing land on the University of Notre Dame campus.

The St. Joseph County coroner's office says Mark Ellisworth of Mishawaka was killed Thursday at a site on the east side of Notre Dame's campus.

University spokesman Dennis Brown says he was working for a contractor clearing the property for a new five-acre parking lot.

Work on the site has been suspended while state inspectors investigate what caused the accident. No other injuries were reported.
