MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) — Gov. Mike Pence says state economic development officials have talked with Boeing Co. about building its new 777X airplane in Indiana, a move that would bring thousands of jobs.

The Times of Munster reports  Indiana is among 15 states competing for a $10 billion Boeing airplane manufacturing and assembly facility that could employ up to 8,500 workers by 2024. Boeing Co. began soliciting bids last month and hopes to make a final decision on a site early next year.

Boeing is looking for incentives, a low- or no-cost site and facility, state-paid infrastructure improvements, low overall cost of business, a pro-business tax structure with specific tax incentives for Boeing, easy permitting and state assistance in recruiting employees.
