WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – A burst water pipe at Purdue University's campus has created problems for Indiana's state office that oversees agricultural laws involving seeds, fertilizers, animal feeds and pesticides.
 
Purdue says a 4-inch water line ruptured Tuesday evening amid subzero cold in the West Lafayette campus' Biochemistry Building, flooding all four of its floors. The Biochemistry Building houses the Office of Indiana State Chemist.
 
State Chemist Robert Waltz says the flooding caused ceiling tiles to fall, while inflicting water damage on computers and other equipment. He says there was little damage to paperwork such as licensing documents.
 
But Waltz says he expects that the state chemist's office would have to relocate temporarily, possibly for months, while its office space on the West Lafayette campus is rebuilt.
