Delaware County Treasurer Faces 46 Felony Counts

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – An eastern Indiana county treasurer has surrendered to face 46 felony counts and one misdemeanor alleging he stole public funds.
 
Delaware County Treasurer John Dorer surrendered Monday at the county's Justice Center in Muncie after prosecutors filed the charges in Delaware Circuit Court.
 
The Star Press reports the 50-year-old Dorer faces one count of theft, one count of official misconduct, one count of conversion and 44 counts of failure to properly deposit public funds. 
 
County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold also said he had filed a civil lawsuit against Dorer requested by the Indiana State Board of Accounts that is aimed at removing Dorer from office.
 
 
A message seeking comment was left at Dorer's home.
