INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is asking the federal government to pay for an expansion of Medicaid using a state-run alternative. Pence formally submitted his proposal Tuesday. He wants to use a version of the state's Healthy Indiana Plan to provide health care coverage to about 458,000 of the state's low-income residents. He's asking the federal government to approve it as an alternative to traditional Medicaid coverage, which he calls “broken.''
