JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A southern Indiana man charged with wounding a sheriff's deputy and killing a police dog during a standoff is expected to serve less than five years in prison or a state mental health facility after pleading guilty to seven felony charges.

The News and Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1oEL6Nl ) 32-year-old Joshua Priddy of Sellersburg entered the pleas Monday in Clark Circuit Court after his attorneys reached an agreement with prosecutors.

Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Jennifer Harmeyer says three mental health professionals determined Priddy was insane at the time of the June 24, 2013, standoff in which Priddy shot Clark County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Proctor in the leg and killed an Indiana State Police dog.

Defense attorney David Mosley says Priddy feels remorse and wants to take responsibility for what happened.
