State Board of Education Delays Release of Accountability Scores

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO) – More issues with school accountability grades and the Indiana Department of Education.

The Indianapolis Star is reporting the State Board of Education voted 7-1 today to delay the release of the school accountability scores. The school board blasted Schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz for not catching data errors. According to the newspaper report, the grading company failed to report parts of the test for at least five schools. They'll tackle the grades again Nov. 5.

Also at the meeting, the school at the center of the grade changing scandal in 2012, was granted a special change. The State Board of Education voted 10-1 to approve change the Christel House grade from a D to B. Board members argued the school was being treated unfairly by the grading formula. Ritz as the only member to vote against it.

Two years ago, then Superintendent Tony Bennett altered the grading standards to ensure the school got an A.
