Hardinsburg Homeowner Fatally Shoots Intruder

HARDINSBURG, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana State Police say a southern Indiana homeowner has fatally shot an intruder during a home invasion.

Detective Craig Starr says 23-year-old Jacob Grimes of Paoli was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday at the rural home near Hardinsburg, about 35 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky.

Starr says brothers 59-year-old Barry Frost and 61-year-old Terah Frost heard Grimes enter the home and moved their 86-year-old mother into a bedroom for protection. The men went downstairs to look for the intruder and Barry Frosty encountered Grimes behind a cellar door.

Star says Grimes and Barry Frost started fighting and Terah Frost ran to help his brother, saw Grimes was armed with a knife and shot the masked intruder with a handgun.
