Funeral Costs Fund Opened for Jasper Fire Victims

JASPER, Ind. (AP) – The family of three people who died in a southern Indiana apartment fire have established a fund to help with their funeral expenses.

The predawn fire in Jasper last Wednesday killed 3-year-old Robert Parsley; his mother, 20-year-old Linsey Parsley; and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Alex Snedeker.

A spokeswoman for Old National Bank tells The Herald that Janet Eckert, an aunt of Alex Snedeker, established the fund Saturday. The spokeswoman says contributions to the fund may be made at any Old National Bank location.

Jasper Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang says the victims were found near a window in the upstairs unit. He says batteries were removed from a downstairs smoke detector and it appeared upstairs smoke detectors were not operational.
