Coroner: 3-year-old Indiana Girl’s Death was `Unnatural’

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A southern Indiana coroner says the weekend death of a 3-year-old girl was “unnatural'' but authorities continue investigating the circumstances.

Clark County Coroner Terry Conway said Tuesday in a statement that his office is unable to release the Clarksville girl's name or her cause of death. Conway says there's “still an active investigation of an unnatural death.''

The News and Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1vysvYm ) that Clarksville police, Clark County's prosecutors and the coroner's office declined Tuesday to provide further details about the girl's death. Police say the toddler died at a hospital Sunday after her mother called emergency responders to her Clarksville mobile home.

<p>WAVE-TV reports the girl's mother pleaded guilty in 2012 to charges stemming from a broken leg and ribs that an 8-month-old girl suffered.
