Indy Designates 120 Acres to Restore Wetlands at Parks

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The city of Indianapolis says it has designated 120 acres of land and will plant 11,000 native trees over the next two months for wetland restoration at one of its parks.

The project at Eagle Creek Park is being coordinated by city agencies and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Indy Parks Director John Williams says Eagle Creek Park is home to both rare and common animals and plants. He says the project will restore what was once farmland to a natural area that will provide wildlife habitat for generations to come.

Indianapolis recently was named a Top 10 City for Wildlife by the National Wildlife Federation.
