Ball State University OKs Upping Project’s Cost Ceiling

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Leaders of Ball State University have approved increasing how much can be spent on improvements to the school's aging baseball field.

Muncie's school board of trustees had initially agreed to allow no more than $3.5 million be spent on the project.

But new artificial turf recently installed on the field pushed the anticipated cost of the project to $4 million. The board last week approved raising the project's cost ceiling. The state has approved a maximum of $5 million for the project.

The baseball field is expected to get new dugouts and stands.

The improvements are part of a more than $20 million campaign to improve athletic facilities across the campus.
