TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ A western Indiana man with HIV is facing 16 charges for allegedly having sex with four women without warning them he had the virus that can cause AIDS.
Indiana State Police on Monday charged 31-year-old Isiah Christopher Benford of Terre Haute with multiple counts of aggravated battery, battery by body waste, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, failing to warn and failing to comply. Indiana law requires people with HIV to warn their sex partners.
WTHI reports court documents show three of the women have been diagnosed with HIV. Benford allegedly had sex with the four women since 2003.
Benford has been held in the Vigo County Jail since April 2014 on a robbery charge. It's not clear whether he has an attorney who might comment on the new charges.</span>
