Ex-Evansville Scout Admits 6 Child Porn Counts

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A former top leader with the Boy Scouts in southwestern Indiana has pleaded guilty to six child pornography counts in federal court in Evansville.

Thirty-four-year-old Ryan Bieler of Ireland pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of possessing child pornography and five counts of receiving it. He’s scheduled to be sentenced July 3.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports a search warrant served on Bieler’s home last November turned up more than 600 sexually explicit images and videos on laptop computers and DVDs involving children 12 or younger.

Bieler was fired in November as a senior district executive for the scouts’ Evansville-based Buffalo Trace Council. He mostly worked with troop leaders and other adults.
