INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The Indiana Arts Commission is launching two grant programs to coincide with the state's 200th birthday.

Indiana first lady and bicentennial ambassador Karen Pence announced the grants. The programs are called Arts in the Parks and Indiana Masterpiece. State officials say funding for both was approved during the recent session of the Indiana General Assembly.

Arts in the Parks will provide funding for groups or individual artists to bring arts programming to state parks and forests. It's a partnership with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Indiana Masterpiece is meant to fund projects that showcase Indiana's arts history and prominent figures. It would include special productions, commissions, exhibits, performance and artistic celebrations.
