INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A judge has delayed the murder trial of an ex-convict charged with killing a 15-year-old girl whose badly burned body was found in an Indianapolis backyard.
A Marion County judge moved Wednesday's pretrial conference for William Gholston to March 2 and set his jury trial for March 7.
Marion County Prosecutor's office spokeswoman Peg McLeish says prosecutors and Gholston's attorney jointly requested the delay to give them more time to prepare for trial.
Gholston is charged with murder in the Aug. 31, 2014, killing of Dominique Allen, a high school freshman. An autopsy found that Allen died from asphyxiation.
He was charged with murder after authorities say DNA found on one of Allen's sandals and her body matched DNA samples from Gholston that are part of the state's inmate database.
