MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) _ A Mishawaka city commission is set to consider a proposed 10-year property tax abatement for Bayer HealthCare. 

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1LXdr8K) the city is making the offer in exchange for Bayer promising 50 to 60 new jobs paying between $25 and $35 an hour. The workers would be located in an office building to built next year. 

The city's Redevelopment Commission is to consider the abatement during its Monday meeting. The Mishawaka City Council would then vote on the abatement.

The company asked state and local officials earlier this year about what incentives they could offer. Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood said the city offered the decade-long abatement to “let Bayer know we want their presence here in a big way.'' Ten years is longest allowable by state law.
