INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence offers no direct response to President Obama's contention that the refusal of Syrian refugees gives ISIS a tool for recruiting.
But the Governor insists that he and the governors of at least 30 other states are taking “an appropriate step” by refusing admission to the Syrians. Pence says his decision was prompted by revelations that “ISIS is using the Syrian refugee crisis” to gain access to other countries in the European Union.
Pence points to the nearly 20-thousand Burmese refugees in Indiana as an example of the state's willingness to help. But he wants assurance of “proper security measures” before admitting the Syrians.
