Allen County Looking for New K-9s To Add To The Force

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is looking for eligible German Shepherds to join the ranks of our K-9 unit.  We are looking for dogs between the ages of 18 months and 3 years old that can pass a physical, and have a good temperament.  All candidates will be screened by a veterinarian and the Sheriff’s K-9 Trainer.  Anyone interested in donating a dog meeting the requirements should contact the Allen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Trainer, Corporal Tyler Harris at (260) 449-4597. 

Dogs of the German Shepherd type, such as Belgian Malinois or Dutch Shepherds will also be considered.  The screening process will take between 24 and 72 hours and the dog would need to be delivered to the Sheriff’s K-9 training center for evaluation located at 2304 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne, IN.  Please direct any questions to Corporal Harris.
