Crashes Go Up During Holidays in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Holiday time means Hoosiers are rushing around on state roadways.

State figures show that Thanksgiving through New Year's is an intense time for speeding, crashes, weather and alcohol-related crashes and fatalities.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers says that's why they're beefing up patrols across the state. Myers says they're watching for aggressive drivers, those who don't buckle up, speed and who drink and drive. He says buckling up is the safest thing drivers can do … especially this time of year.

Myers says in the event of road emergencies, it's always crucial that drivers know their precise location so that help can find them quickly.
