City: No Evidence of Police Negligence in Teen’s Death

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) _ The city of Anderson is asking a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by the family of a teenager who died from an apparent suicide in the back of a police car more than three years ago.

Attorneys for the city say in court documents that there's no evidence that police officers acted with any negligence or knew 17-year-old Jace Zook was suicidal.

Authorities say Zook strangled himself using a seat belt after being arrested in August 2012 with two other teens suspected of trying to break into the Madison County Shrine Club in Anderson.

The teenager's family is seeking $1.5 million in damages in the wrongful death lawsuit.

Charles Finster tells The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/21oLukY ) that his grandson didn't deserve to die that night.
