FRANKFORT, Ind. (AP) _ Police in Frankfort will be getting more than two dozen body cameras.
WLFI-TV in Lafayette reports (http://bit.ly/1Q5cjXK ) that the Frankfort City Council has approved more than $20,000 to pay for 31 body cameras _ one for each officer. Deputy Chief Glenn Talbot says he's been working on a department policy on how and when the cameras will be used. It will include input from officers and the community.
Talbot says the cameras will be turned on anytime an officer has contact with the public. He hopes to have it written by the end of next month. The police chief and city's board of works must approve it. The cameras then will be purchased and officers trained to use them.
Frankfort is in Clinton County and has about 16,500 residents.
