Snowy Conditions Keep ISP Troopers in Fort Wayne Busy

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Lots of accidents on area roadways Monday morning due to the snow, but none of them were serious.

That's according to the Indiana State Police post in Fort Wayne. Between 7:30 a.m. and noon, troopers responded to 27 property damage crashes, 11 crashes involving injury, and 16 vehicles that slid off the slick roadways.

Despite the high number of accidents, no one involved suffered life threatening injuries.

Most of the crashes and slide-offs took place on I-69 between Fort Wayne and Auburn. One caller compared that stretch of I-69 to “a sheet of ice”. Most of those crashes were due to drivers driving at unsafe speeds.
