FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): New power lines aren’t the only thing going up along Indiana-Michigan Power’s Powering Up Central Project in Fort Wayne.

I&M is partnering up with the Wildlife Habitat Council and the City of Fort Wayne to create “environmentally balanced habitats” along the portion of the project that will run along the Rivergreenway and St. Joseph River.

The local group Friends of the Rivers will also join with I&M and other local organizations to enhance that area for public use.

Tree clearing will begin next week on that stretch of the project, along with other portions of the project. I&M is connecting a transmission line between the Spy Run and Robison Park substations.
