INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana University’s former student ethics director won’t face charges in Texas for an alleged sexual assault that prompted his resignation.

A woman alleged that Jason Casares sexually assaulted her in December in Fort Worth, Texas. But Fort Worth Police Department spokesman Officer Daniel Segura says the department’s probe determined that “the elements for a criminal case against Mr. Casares do not exist” and he won’t face criminal charges.

Casares resigned in February. Casares was hired by IU in 2011 as the school’s student ethics officer and a deputy Title IX coordinator.

A review found Casares showed no bias in sexual misconduct cases he handled at IU. A retired law professor concluded school rules were followed in each case, “ensuring a fair process for all parties involved.” The review also found that Casares never pressured hearing officers into taking a particular position.
