INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Ohio Gov. John Kasich is backing out of campaigning in Indiana ahead of the state’s primary next week as part of a collaborative strategy with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz to deprive Donald Trump the delegates needed to win the Republican nomination.
Both Cruz and Kasich’s campaigns released statements Sunday night saying Cruz will focus his campaign resources on winning enough delegates in Indiana, while Kasich will focus on Oregon and New Mexico.
Kasich’s campaign said it would give Cruz a “clear path” in Indiana.
Trump, the current front-runner, needs 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination. If he falls short, the Republican convention in July will evolve into a rare contested convention.
Kasich’s campaign on Sunday night canceled a town hall and gathering in Indianapolis scheduled to watch the results of Tuesday’s primaries.
Indiana’s primary is May 3.

Trump has always been a liberal Democrat and has no business running as a Republican. If he gains the nomination Hillary will kill him at the polls, and then kill us with Marxism.
