2 questioned after Muncie woman, 73, found shot to death

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Authorities say a 73-year-old Muncie woman was fatally shot in her home and two people were being questioned about it.

Delaware County Sheriff Ray Dudley says 73-year-old Bonnie Lou Franks died of a single gunshot wound to her head about 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Deputies found the body on the living room floor near a shotgun.

Sheriff’s investigator Kurt Walthour stated in court records that emergency dispatchers received a call from a man later identified as the victim’s son, 42-year-old Richard M. Franks, reporting “his girlfriend had shot his mom … in the back of the head.”

Chesterfield police apprehended 47-year-old Amy J. Campbell about 5 a.m., and Richard Franks was apprehended 30 minutes later in Muncie. However, Walthour and Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig said no arrests had been made.
