FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Some good, and some bad, job news for the Fort Wayne area.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the jobless rate in Allen, Wells and Whitley Counties went up three-tenths of a percentage point in May to 4.3%, but there’s a silver lining to that news. The Fort Wayne metropolitan area also saw an increase in the labor force to tune of more than 2,400 people, bringing the labor force’s total to almost 221,000.

The Journal Gazette reports that’s the highest on record.

The number of people employed went up by 1,755, while those unemployed rose by 708.
