FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday afternoon on the city’s south side.

Police were called to a home in the 4400 block of Warsaw Street by several people who reported hearing gunshots in the area. Upon arrival they found a man lying in the driveway, with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department. 

He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but was dead upon arrival.

Witnesses told police the man was shot by someone who fled the scene in a nearby vehicle. Police are currently trying to identify what kind of vehicle the suspect or suspects were in, and are going door to door speaking with neighbors.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
