DEFIANCE, Oh. (WOWO):  State Troopers in Ohio are reporting a fatal crash in Adams Township, Ohio.

The single vehicle crash happened early Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. when Gregory L Gerken, 25, of Defiance, Ohio hit a utility pole.  It’s unclear if he was pronounced dead at the scene or shortly after.

Also injured in the crash was Wesley W. Wagner, 22, of Napoleon, Ohio.

Crime scene investigators say that the vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed and left the roadway.  After hitting the pole the car went into a cornfield and rolled several times.  Gerken was ejected from the car.

Police say neither of the people inside were wearing seat belts.

Speed is believed to be a factor, and the crash is under investigation.
