FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An excavation business near downtown Fort Wayne burned last night.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to Crosby Excavating on Osage Street a few minutes before 11:30pm to find heavy smoke coming from the building’s office storage area.

Crews had to force open some overhead doors to gain entry and tried to fight the fire from there, before having to abandon it once the roof started to collapse. The fire was eventually brought under control about 90 minutes after crews arrived.

Nobody was hurt.

The fire is under investigation; it’s the second business fire to happen “after dark” this week, with Southwood Guttering taking heavy damage in a fire Monday night, but there’s no indication the two are connected.
