FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana is experiencing a 10-year high in farming bankruptcies.

Fifteen farming operations in Indiana shut down during a 12-month period that ended on June 30th, according to a report by the Journal Gazette.

Indiana Farm Bureau Allen County president Roger Hadley tells the paper his farm doesn’t generate enough income on its own so he also works as a seed dealer, and he knows of many other farms who are close to bankruptcy.

This is reportedly despite record yields, which are in part due to low prices for corn, beef, and soybeans, as well as tariffs that closed off the Chinese market for many farmers.
