“Active School Shooter” training in Mercer County this week

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): If you see a bunch of police and emergency crews at St. Henry’s High School in Mercer County, don’t be alarmed.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an active shooter training today and tomorrow at the school.

It’s one of several schools in the district to host the training, according to our Partners in News at ABC 21, as police agencies are trying to get a feel for the layout of each different building.

More than 50 students are helping with the training, which will be using simulated weapons and focusing on not only neutralizing threats but also helping the “wounded.”

The training sessions run from 8 am to 4 pm today and tomorrow.
