ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – The Allen County Council approved $1.25 million for the NewAllen Alliance’s Rural Revival Regional Development Plan in a 5-1 vote Thursday.

The Journal Gazette reports the NewAllen Alliance originally asked for $2 million, but reduced the amount to $1.75 million before the meeting. A motion to fund the full amount was defeated in a 3-3 vote.

The approved funds will go toward the Allen County Commercial Facade Program, the Cedar Creek Parks Trail, and the Operations/Maintenance Fund for Harland and Hoagland projects and leadership.

Earlier this week, the alliance announced it will be unveiling a plan to attract and retain “high quality” jobs. The strategic plan will be released to the public on October 24.
