Allen County Council members vote down tax proposal for new jail

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Allen County Council members voted 4-2 Thursday morning against a proposed 0.2% county income tax increase to help fund the new Allen County Jail.

Our partners in news at 21 Alive report that the Allen County Board of Commissioners told county councilors they were considering the tax increase in May. A public hearing was held in June.

On Thursday, members from the public and various county officials spoke about the proposal before the vote.

One council member was not present for the vote.

Maybe… we are looking for funding in aaAAAall the wrong places?

What if we have the jail populous aid in the building of the facility?!
Maybe they could work off a portion of their debt to society, by helping to Lower the cost.

I think a properly implemented work-release program, for the “attendees” at the old jail, would surely ease the cost burden for the new jail.
One would think it would be a huge benefit to Fort Wayne.

People want to feel useful, and maybe some of the longer-term populous could pick up a new skill, or trade?

There HAS to be a few skilled (albeit ..crooked AF) contractors, or contract workers, within the currently confined?
Nearly positive of that!

..just a thought..
