FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Most Allen County schools are doing well, according to the school accountability grades released Tuesday.

The Indiana State Board of Education approved the grades, which came after months of disagreement over ISTEP+ scores.

Most schools in Southwest Allen County Schools, Northwest Allen County Schools, East Allen County Schools and private schools earned As and Bs.

Most Fort Wayne Community Schools also earned As, Bs, and Cs, except for Kekionga, Miami and Portage middle schools, which each received Ds.

The charter schools in Fort Wayne — Horizon Christian Academy and Imagine Indiana Life Science West — both received Fs.

Earlier this month Gov. Mike Pence signed two bills into law that ensure that schools and teachers wouldn’t be held accountable for 2015 ISTEP scores. Because of those laws, schools could have received higher grades than last year but not lower.

Here’s the full list of the grades for public schools in Allen County.

Of course the charter schools didn’t do as well, many of the students start behind and so have to work to catch up with others in their grade.
