FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman had to go to the emergency room Monday afternoon after her husband accidentally shot her while aiming for her dog.

Police say the woman was trying to break up a fight between her two dogs – a german shepard and a pit bull – and asked her husband to shoot one of them, since she was suffering multiple bites and was unable to stop the fight.

He shot and killed one of the dogs, but also accidentally put a bullet in her foot. Neither of them even realized it until she went to a walk-in clinic complaining of foot pain.

No charges are expected, and the News-Sentinel says the incident was also cleared by Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
