Allen County Voter Turnout Reaches Record Low

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Voter turnout was less than what Allen County officials were hoping for last night.

Earlier this week officials said they were expecting 30% turnout to the polls… but barely under 22-and-a-half percent showed up, setting a new record for low turnout and marking the third straight drop in turnout. That's less than 43,000 out of more than 190,000 eligible voters.

Election Board Chairman Thomas Hardin told the Journal Gazette officials are troubled by the constant drop, saying people need to have more of a sense of civic duty, while noting that there were only three municipalities in Allen County holding elections this year.
