MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ Ball State University is moving ahead with its plan to build a hotel and hospitality industry education center after the owner of a campus-area print shop where the facility will be built announced its closing.
The university had sought to gain possession of the property owned by Chris Hiatt through an eminent domain lawsuit in 2012, but announced last year it was no longer trying to obtain the property.
The Star Press reports Ball State spokesman Tony Proudfoot said the project “will proceed as originally conceived.''
The $25 million project consists of a living-learning community for about 50 students and laboratory space for hospitality, food and event management students. It will likely include two restaurants, a student-run sales area, meeting rooms and a 100-room hotel.
