Bayh Considering a 2016 Run for Governor

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Former Governor Evan Bayh says he‘ll decide over Labor Day weekend whether to run for his old job.

Bayh has called a run against Republican Governor Mike Pence “unlikely,” but hasn‘t closed the door completely. State Democratic Chairman John Zody says he‘s talked with Bayh this summer, but hasn‘t pushed him one way or the other on a 2016 campaign. He says a post-Labor Day announcement of his plans would give other candidates enough time to make their own decisions.

Apart from his name recognition from eight years as governor and 12 as a U.S. senator, Bayh would have nine-point-nine-million dollars in seed money available in his Senate campaign committee.

Bayh has been out of public office since his retirement from the Senate in 2010.
