GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) _ A central Indiana couple is training the next generation of bloodhounds to help police search for missing people.

Kelly Haggard and Mike McPherson of Greenfield operate Hancock County Search Dogs. The nonprofit agency loans its bloodhounds to police at no cost to help them track down the missing.
 
The Indianapolis Star reports the couple have three bloodhounds. One is nearing retirement, another is about 18 months old, and the newest addition is a 12-week-old puppy.

One of the older bloodhounds helped locate a missing mentally troubled man in woods in Hancock County earlier this year. Maj. Brad Burkhart of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department says the dogs are a “great asset'' when someone with Alzheimer's disease or a small child goes missing.
