Body Found in Warren County Field

OTTERBEIN, Ind. (WOWO): Wednesday afternoon, a call reporting a wrecked car in a wooded area near Warren County Roads 600 North and 900 East, led to the discovery of a dead body.

When officers from the Indiana State Police arrived they found a vehicle with no one inside. Officers then searched the area and found the body of a deceased person approximately 120 yards from the car.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was a rental car which had been reported as stolen. It had allegedly been rented by 51-year-old Tracey Rutel, of Indianapolis. Rutel was reported as a missing person, to the Muncie Police Department, on August 20, 2013.

Earlier today, an autopsy was conducted in Tippecanoe County. The autopsy failed to reveal the identity of the deceased or the manner of death. Further attempts will be made to the body.

As this is an ongoing investigation, police ask that if you have any information about this case to contact Indiana State Police Detective Tom Minnicus by calling 1-765-567-2125.
