Missing IU student’s mother keeps hoping 5 years later

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): The mother of an Indiana University student who vanished five years ago says she still believes the mystery of her daughter’s disappearance will someday be solved.
Twenty-year-old Lauren Spierer vanished on June 3, 2011, after a night out with friends in Bloomington, Indiana. Searches around Bloomington and the surrounding countryside failed to turn up any sign of the Greenburgh, New York, woman.

But Charlene Spierer writes in a Facebook posting on Friday’s 5-year anniversary that she still believes “the truth of what happened to Lauren” will someday be known and that “justice will be served.”

She says she doesn’t believe her daughter’s disappearance resulted from “a random abduction.”

Charlene Spierer writes that it’s hard for her to believe that whoever’s responsible for her daughter’s disappearance hasn’t confided in someone.
