Candidate Fights to Stay on Ballot for Fort Wayne City Clerk

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Democrat who filed to run for Fort Wayne city clerk made arguments before the Allen County Election Board on Wednesday to keep his name on the ballot.

Brian Thornton had his name taken off the ballot after voting records showed he didn't vote in the Democratic primary last election- a requirement to become a candidate in the May Primary election.

Thornton was originally going to back out of the race, but at the time, he didn't meet the deadline to take his name off the ticket. He then decided to stay on the ballot.

Angie Davis is the only other Democrat in the race. According to our partners in news at 21Alive, Republicans Lana Keesling and Derek Pillie are running for the GOP nomination on May 5th.
