Candidate Loses Home

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): He lost Tuesday's primary race for Elkhart County auditor and hours after the results came in, Jim Erb lost his home to a fire.

New Paris and Benton Township firefighters were called to Erb's home in the 18000 block of First Street, just after 2:30 a.m., Wednesday morning.

Erb said he, his wife and his stepson were sleeping when the fire detectors went off. The fire started out on the back side of the house. Erb believes the fire was intentionally set. He also suggested faulty wiring could be to blame. The Indiana State Fire Marshall's office has not determined the cause.
