City Council Approves Director of Public Safety Position

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council approved the creation of the position of Director of Public Safety at their meeting last night. Last week, Mayor Tom Henry appointed Police Chief Rusty York to the position. According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, the ordinance was passed unanimously but first addressed the issue of the growing homicide rate. York talked about the grant offered from the U.S. Department of Justice that would allow the Fort Wayne police department to add 10 new police officers in 2015.
